A Profound Waste of Time
The developer interviews in here go way deeper than I expected for a games magazine, and the illustration spreads are genuinely beautiful. It's the kind of book you leave on the coffee table and end up flipping through again a week later.
I bought this expecting a nice art book and ended up reading every developer interview cover to cover. The illustration quality is genuinely gallery-worthy, and the essays on game design made me see a few of my favorite titles differently.
The illustrations alone justify the price, especially the full-page spreads between essays. My only gripe is that it's a fairly slim volume for what you pay, but the paper quality makes up for it.
