The third issue of A Profound Waste of Time, an award-winning independent magazine that celebrates games as an art form. Beautifully designed and filled with stunning, bespoke imagery, this issue features Fumito Ueda, Tim Schafer, Rodney Greenblat, and many more, with a cover illustration by ma-ko.
It's about 190 pages long.
The print quality alone is worth it — the bespoke artwork looks incredible on the thick matte pages. I keep it on my coffee table and guests always end up flipping through it.
I've never read a games magazine that treats the medium this seriously without feeling pretentious. The bespoke imagery paired with the essays makes it the kind of issue you leave on the coffee table for weeks.
The layout and photography in this issue completely changed how I see game design. Every page feels like a gallery exhibit, and the interviews are remarkably thoughtful.
